Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Looking back at our preliminary task I feel that I have learnt many different skills that i have been able to develop into this project. For a start in my preliminary task I only worked with one other person whereas with our main task there was four of us I therefore had to adapt to work with more ideas and opinions that i had to take into consideration. I have also learnt how to improve aspects such as lighting. In our preliminary task we had the issue of too much light coming from behind our two characters when we tried to do a long shot. It made it hard to focus on the two characters because of the glare from the sun. Therefore during our main task we avoided placing the characters infront of windows or glass doors to prevent any unwanted ambient light. A key aspect of the progression was the time management, it was more convenient to film the preliminary task as we would film in school during lessons so we could equally plan how long we would spend doing both filming and editing, however in the main task we had to organise finding a house to film in and a day in which all of the cast and crew could make it to the location. Finally there was the issue with the sound in our preliminary task, because it was filmed in the school canteen there was a result in unwanted diagetic background noise to conquer this problem we used the detachable microphone to focus on the sound that we wanted. Overall I think that our preliminary task helped us to improve our skills so that our main task can be portrayed to our full potential.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

How did you attract/address your audience?

The audience for our media product would be for teens and adults. This is because we brought together our idea in the planning progress and felt that this would be the target audience that we would most be able to relate to and apply our skills of representation affectively. The ways in which we did this was to have a group of characters that all represent different stereotypes by the costumes they were wearing.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The ways in which our product represents particular social groups are that we have classed each of the main characters into their own individual stereotype. we did this by giving the characters a stereotypical appearance. for example the 'Goth' style character we dressed in all black with heavy make up and a tight chain around their neck. the colour black in clothing classically connotes a quite dark gothic character which is one of the main reasons as to why we chose this. Also that our target audience was aimed at teenagers we felt that it was convenient to have the actors as teenagers to create a stronger connection with the audience and help them to relate more to the film and set characters within the film.

Final Editing

In the final editing sessions after sorting out the issue with the music we have all of our titles including the characters names and the crew members we have also put the music onto the footage aswell as the flashes and camera snapshot sound with an even balance so that the main soundtrack did not drown out the sound of the camera shutter. We also added some transitions such as cross fade so that the footage would have a smoother transition rather than being jerky. Finally we exported the footage as a quicktime movie so that it is now ready to be uploaded to youtube and our blogs.

Music

When we were trying to upload our music we came across some technical difficulties when we could no longer access the music either on itunes or youtube. However we managed to contact the manager and have him send us a copy of the MP3 file.

Hi there my mate sent you a email and this is want you sent back.
I am Christina Novelli's manager. Thank-you for your request to use "Our Way" in your
video project.
I am pleased to confirm that you can use the track for your project.
Best wishes,
Rob King.
They were very pleased with this but however they are unable to get the song on iTunes or YouTube anymore. Is there any possibility that you could email the mp3 file, or know anywhere else they could get the music from.
Thank you for taking your time to read this, many thanks.
Zoe Tandy

Hi Zoe,
I have attached the MP3 of 'Our Way' by Christina Novelli, for you, to this email.
I am happy to let you use the track for your project as mentioned in the previous e-mail. However, you must not upload, use or give the track to anyone else, for any other reason than the agreed project. I hope this helps, and i would love to see your finished project!
Good luck,
Best wishes,
Rob.

Still Images For Our Film

These are the images that we are using in our film, because we took these images before it became dark we then as a result had to edit them in photoshop to give the atmosphere that it was the night before. We learnt how to create a camera flash combined with sound on a video we found on youtube, we did this by selecting 'dip to colour dissolve' changed the colour from black to white and the duration to 3 seconds. To get the sound effect we went into finder, music and typed in camera, it then came up with camera sound effects and we chose camera shutter. We then dragged it onto our time line under the footage where we had previously inserted the flash.

Editing - Sessions 3 and 4

For these two sessions we focused on continuity. The beginning of our film was most important to perfect continuity as there are lots of short clips that need to come together to make the film run smoothly. The rest of the film was mainly in longer chunks but we had to cut them to enable us to insert the images to link with the title 'Flashback Friday'.

Editing - Sessions 1 and 2

The first day we spent editing, the main priority was to upload all the footage from the camera onto the mac. Then between these two sessions we would remove the footage that we decided we were not going to use and cut down the sections that we were.
